Week of September 28, 2015
11th Academic English
This week we will continue working with Clauses.  You will practice Sentence Classification by identifying independent and subordinate clauses in sentences, then use those to classify the sentences as either simple, compound, complex or compound/complex.  On Thursday you will take Vocabulary Quiz #2, will turn in Reading Response #2 and will work on list #3.  Enjoy Homecoming Spirit Week 2015!!

12th Academic English
On Monday you will take a test on the epic poem, Beowulf, then will begin work on a project related to Beowulf.  Later in the week we will begin a study of Arthurian literature by viewing two documentaries, "In Search of Camelot" and "King Arthur."  On Thursday you will take Vocabulary Quiz #2, will turn in Reading Response #2 and will work on list #3.  Enjoy your senior year Homecoming Spirit Week 2015!!

Theatre Production
This week you will continue work on the Costume project.  Be prepared to present your project early next week.

Week of September 21, 2015

11th Academic English
On Tuesday you will take a test on Sentence Analysis.  Make sure you study your notes and worksheets to prepare for this test.  After the test we will begin work with Clauses and Sentence Classification.  Near the end of the week we'll put these grammar reviews into use by practicing editing and revising skills.

12th Academic English
This week we'll continue our look at the Anglo-Saxon epic poem Beowulf.  We'll continue our class discussions of this work, learning about Anglo-Saxon cultural values and traditions.  At the end of the week you will take a test on Beowulf then begin work on a project centered on this literary piece.

Theatre Production
This week we'll continue to look at costuming and how it helps to tell the story in musical theatre.  You'll continue to watch the film version of the musical My Fair Lady, noting how costumes are used to define the social classes of the characters, and how costumes are used to non-verbally depict Eliza's transformation from flower girl to royalty.

Week of September 14, 2015
11th Academic English
This week we will continue to work on Sentence Analysis skills.  We will check the answers to worksheets you have already completed and will continue to use both text exercises and teacher worksheets to practice this skill.  On Thursday you will take Vocabulary Quiz #1, will turn in Reading Response #1 and will work on Vocabulary List #2.  On Friday you will have a test on Sentence Analysis. 

12th Academic English
This week you will continue to work on the Exile writing prompt.  Your completed essay is due on Friday, September 18th.  On Tuesday you will take a test on the Anglo/Saxon Period, then will begin work on Beowulf.  On Thursday you will take Vocabulary Quiz #1, will turn in Reading Response #1 and will work on Vocabulary List #2.

Theatre Production I
This week you'll continue work on the Theatre Jobs project.  By Friday be ready to turn in your written report and to present your findings in class.  Make sure you ask questions if you are having problems with the project.

Week of September 7, 2015
11th Academic English
This week we will begin work with sentence analysis.  Using the procedures shown to you in class, you will analyze sentences from both teacher worksheets and text exercises.  Early next week we will check Vocabulary List #1 and its review sheet, so please make sure you have those completed.

12th Academic English
This week we will look at Anglo-Saxon exile poetry.  We will read and discuss three selections in class, noting how the poems reveal elements of Anglo-Saxon culture and mores as well as how the poems employ several literary devices.  Later this week you will begin work on a writing prompt based on this poetry.  Early next week we will check Vocabulary List #1 and its review sheet, so please make sure you have those completed.

Theatre Production I
This week we will continue our look at the history of American Musical Theatre and Broadway.  We'll view the third installment of "Broadway: The American Musical".  You will also begin working on the first project for this course by researching theatre jobs.
