Week of December 1st
11th Academic English
Enjoy your day off from school on Monday! This week we will begin working with Clauses (p. 436+ in your textbook) and will use that knowledge to classify sentences. Be sure to take good notes from the lecture and to use those notes on both the worksheets and the book exercises. Be prepared for Vocabulary Quiz #7 on Thursday, December 4th. Your Newsweek summary #7 is also due on Thursday, 12/4. We will end the week with a quiz on part 3 of O Pioneers! on Friday, December 5th.

12th Academic English
Enjoy your day off from school on Monday! We will continue our work with MacBeth this week. On Wednesday, 12/3 we will have a quiz on Act II of MacBeth and you will begin work on the Act III Study Guide for this play. Be prepared for Vocabulary Quiz #7 on Thursday, December 4th. Your Newsweek summary #7 is also due on Thursday, 12/4. Friday, we will continue work with Act III of MacBeth.

Week of November 24th
11th Academic English
We will take a quiz on Part 2 of O Pioneers! on Tuesday, November 25th. Work on the Part 3 Study Guide given to you in class. We will begin practice for the PSSA Tests by working with a Revising and Editing workbook on Tuesday and Wednesday in class. Have a great Thanksgiving Vacation!

12th Academic English
We will read together and discuss Act I of MacBeth, then take a quiz on that Act on Tuesday, November 25th. You will read Act II of MacBeth and complete the Study Guide for Act II. Have a great Thanksgiving Vacation!

Week of November 17th
11th Academic English
We will continue to work on Sentence Analysis this week, finishing up with a test on Sentence Analysis on Friday, November 21st. You will have a Newsweek Summary due on Thursday, November 20th, and will take Vocabulary Quiz #6 on Thursday, November 20th as well.

12th Academic English
We will begin studying Shakespeare's play MacBeth. You will receive a copy of the play and a study guide for Act I of the play. On Thursday, November 20th, you will turn in a Newsweek Summary and will take Vocabulary Quiz #6. Tuesday of this week, our Guidance Department will meet with all of our senior English classes in the Library during your regularly scheduled English class.

Week of November 10th
11th Academic English
We will begin analyzing sentences using the notation I will teach you in class. Please make sure you are using this notation on all book exercises and on the worksheets. Don't forget that Newsweek Summary 5 is due on Thursday at the start of the class period.

12th Academic English
We will continue to analyze and interpret Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales by working with "The Nun's Priest Tale" and "The Pardoner's Tale" (pp.119-150) Be sure to take good notes. Be prepared for a test on The Canterbury Tales and all related notes near the end of this week. Don't forget that Newsweek Summary 5 is due on Tuesday at the start of the class period.

Week of November 3rd
11th Academic English
This week we will continue working on Part 1 of the novel O Pioneers! You should finish reading Part 1 and answering the questions on the Part 1 Study Guide for this novel. We will also begin a grammar review by working with the Parts of Speech, beginning on pg. 379 in the grammar text book. Vocabulary Quiz #5 will happen on Thursday, November 6th and Newsweek Summary 4 is due at that time.

12th Academic English
This week we will continue or work with The Canterbury Tales by reading, outlining and discussing the "Prologue" (p. 94-115) of this work. Make sure you are taking good notes on this! Vocabulary Quiz #5 will happen on Thursday, November 6th.
