Week of March 28, 2011
11th Academic English
PSSA Writing Tests this week!!!! Make sure you do your best and use the procedures we reviewed in class. This week we will view the film version of Hamlet. On Friday, we will begin work on Modern American Literature by reading and outlining pp. 704-714. Make sure you bring your literature anthologies with you on Friday.

12th Academic English
This week we will finish viewing the film version of MacBeth. On Wednesday and through Friday we will continue our study of the British Romantic Period by reading together and outlining "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner," p. 686+

Week of March 21, 2011
11th Academic English
You will take a test on Hamlet on Monday. Make sure you review all characters in the play and your study guides for Acts III, IV and V. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday we will prepare and review for the PSSA Writing Test, being given next week. On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #13 and will also hand in Newsweek summary #13. Those of you who owe make-up work should be prepared to take those tests/quizzes on Monday or Tuesday, as the quarter is coming to a close.

12th Academic English
On Monday we will review Vocabulary List #13. Monday through Wednesday, we will watch a film version of MacBeth. Be sure to note the similarities and the differences between the version we studied in class and the version you will be viewing this week. On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #13 and will also hand in Newsweek summary #13. On Friday, you will continue in-class silent reading of Frankenstein. You will also complete study guide questions for this novel. Those of you who owe make-up quizzes, tests, should be prepared to take those on Monday or Tuesday, as the quarter is coming to a close.

Week of March 14, 2011
11th Academic English
PSSA Reading/Math testing begins on Tuesday! Make sure you read through the "Strategies and Tips" in your notebooks. Get good rest and prepare for these tests! This week in class we will finish our study of Shakespeare's Hamlet. Monday and Tuesday we'll work on Act IV. On Wednesday you'll take the Act IV quiz and we will work on Act V. We'll continue our Act V work on Thursday. On Friday, you will take the final test on Hamlet. Do your best on the PSSA Tests!

12th Academic English
Monday through Wednesday we will continue our study of the British Romantic Period by reading and discussing "Introduction to Frankenstein," p. 650, "The Oval Portrait," p. 658 and "Lines Composed A Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey," p. 666. The Final Draft of your research project is due on Wednesday, March 16th at the start of class. Remember that you must turn in two copies of your final draft. On Thursday and Friday, we will read and discuss "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner," p. 686+

Week of March 7, 2011
11th Academic English
This week we will continue our study of Shakespeare's Hamlet. We will read together Act IV, then we will review your Act IV Study Guide. On Wednesday, you will take a quiz on Act IV and will begin work on the Act V Study Guide. On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #12 and will turn in Newsweek Summary #12. Friday we will work on Act V of Hamlet and complete some additional preparation for the PSSA Tests that begin on Tuesday, March 15th.

12th Academic English
We're almost to the finish line on the Research Writing project. On Wednesday, you will turn in a completed draft of your project for my review. You should include the Works Cited page with the text of your paper. Make sure parenthetical citations are correctly completed. Monday we will begin an analysis of the Romantic Period in British literature. You will read and outline pp. 614-21 in your literature anthology. Later in the week we will read "Introduction to Frankenstein," p. 650, "The Oval Portrait," p. 658 and "Lines Composed a Few Miles Above Tintern Abbey," p. 666. On Thursday of this week you will take Vocabulary Quiz #12 and will turn in Newsweek Summary #12.
