Week of February 22, 2010

12th Academic

Students will continue compiling resources so that they successfully complete their final set of bibliographic note cards. The cards should include a variety of sources (i.e. books, periodicals, online sources, etc.). Although working at an individual pace, students should be aware of the upcoming deadlines.
The final set of note cards (21-30) and all supporting cards will be due Friday, February 26, 2010.

11th Academic

Students have completed Hamlet Act II and will review the act in its entirety on Monday. The quiz for Act II will be held Tuesday, February 23, 2010. After the quiz the students will break from Shakespeare to continue in preparation for the PSSA writing exams.
Students will continue examples in the Editing/Revising workbooks and will begin drafting their own writing. Most exercises will be completed in class. However, the activity that will be held during class on Friday, February 26, 2010 will carry over into an assignment that each student will need to complete at home over the weekend. The activity will be modeled during class so that students understand all of the expectations of the assignment.

Due to recent weather conditions and school closings, due dates for assignments regarding the Research Paper will be adjusted. The modified dates are as follows:

Outline - Thursday, Mar. 4, 2010
Works Cited - Wednesday, Mar. 10, 2010
Text of Research Paper - Friday, Mar. 12, 2010
Finished Research Paper - Monday, Mar. 22, 2010

The section 10 vocabulary quiz has been moved to Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010. Students will begin defining terms for section 11 and will complete the corresponding review sheet.

11th Academic
The section 10 vocabulary quiz has been moved to Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010. Students will begin defining terms for section 11 and will complete the corresponding review sheet. Newsweek article summary/reflections are also due on Thursday. Students are responsible for reading Hamlet Act II, scene ii and completing the study guide questions.

Week of February 8, 2010
11th Academic English
This week we will continue our study of Shakespeare's play Hamlet. You will begin work on Act II and will complete the Act II Study Guide. On Thursday you will take Vocabulary Quiz #10 and will work on list #11 and its review sheet. Another Newsweek Summary is due on Thursday also, so make sure you complete that homework and have your summary ready to hand in at the start of class on Thursday!!!

12th Academic English
We will continue our work on the Research Paper project this week. On Tuesday you should hand in the first set of Bibliography/Note Cards. Be sure that your cards are wrapped with a rubber band and that your name is on the pack. On Thursday you will take Vocabulary Quiz #10 and will work on list #11 and its review sheet. Don't forget, ALL RESEARCH DEADLINES ARE FINAL! You must turn in research assignments by the due dates or you will not receive credit for the assignment! However, you still must complete the assignment! Make sure you pay attention to all due dates and are prepared to meet deadlines!!!

Week of February 1, 2010
11th Academic English
This week we will continue working on Shakespeare's play, Hamlet. You will complete reading Act I and will also complete the Act I Study Guide. On Friday you will take the Act I quiz. Also on Friday, you will begin reading Act II and will begin completing the Act II Study Guide.

12th Academic English
This week you will continue to work on the Research Writing Project. On Tuesday, you will turn in your Thesis Statement card. Using the information given to you in class, you will work on completing the first set of bibliography/note cards, due at the start of next week. Make sure you are keeping up with the work and are prepared for all deadlines.
