Week of March 30, 2015
11th Academic English
On Monday we will finish our study of Hamlet.  After viewing the film, we will discuss the similarities and differences found in the film and in the version of the play we studied in class.  On Tuesday we will begin a unit on America's Modern/Postmodern Periods.  You will take notes during a power point discussion, then will begin work on the Jazz Age Project.  Work on this project will continue though the end of the week.

12th Academic English
This week we will continue our study of Britain's Romantic Period.  We will discuss the three literary selection you read last week, then will begin reading and discussing, "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner," pp. 685-709.  Please make sure you note first, the impact of Britain's Industrial Revolution on the literature of the period, then the role of Nature in the literary selections.

Week of March23, 2015
11th Academic English
This week we will continue viewing the film adaptation of Shakespeare's Hamlet.  Make sure you are noting the similarities and differences between the version we studied in class and the film we are viewing.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #12 and will work on vocabulary unit #13.  You will also turn in reading response #11.  On Friday we will begin a study of the Modern Period of American literature.

12th Academic English
This week we will continue our study of the British Romantic Period.  On Monday we will discuss the historical and societal influences that helped to shape the literature of the period.  Later in the week we will read together and discuss "Introduction to Frankenstein," p.650, "The Oval Portrait," p.658 and "Lines Composed Above Tintern Abbey," p.666.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #12 and will work on vocabulary unit #13.

Week of March 16, 2015
11th Academic English
This week we will complete our study of Shakespeare's Hamlet.  On Monday we will read together and discuss Act V.  On Tuesday you will take a quiz on Act V and prepare for the final test on Hamlet, being given on Wednesday.  We will also begin viewing a film version of this play.  While watching the film, take note of the similarities and differences between the film and the version of the play we studied in class.  Be prepared for a discussion at the end of the film.

12th Academic English
This is it, guys and girls, the end of the position paper research project!!!  On Tuesday you will turn in two copies of your completed research project.  Make sure you follow, exactly, all MLA guidelines for research papers. No late papers will be accepted, so make sure you are prepared to meet this deadline. On Wednesday we will begin a study of British Romantic Period literature.  Have with you your literature anthology and your notebook.

Week of March 9, 2015
11th Academic English
This week we will continue our study of Shakespeare's Hamlet.  On Monday you will take the Acts I, II and III Test originally scheduled for last Wednesday, then will finish reading Act IV and will complete the Act IV study guide.  We will read together and discuss Act IV, but I want you to think about how Prince Hamlet and Laertes may be in the same situation. Be ready to discuss this in class.  On Wednesday, you will take vocabulary quiz #11 and will turn in reading response #10, if you haven't done so already.  When we finish working with Act IV later this week, you will take a quiz.  Spring is almost here!!!

12th Academic English
We are coming down to the wire on the Research Project!!  On Monday you will turn in the outline that was originally due last Wednesday.  On Wednesday you will take vocabulary quiz #11.  The remainder of class time this week will be devoted to finishing your works cited page, due on Thursday of this week, and finishing the final draft of your research project, due on Tuesday, March 17th.  Hang in there--the project is almost finished!!
