Week of April 27, 2015
11th Academic English
This week you will take a quiz on "In Another Country" on Monday.  We will discuss both "The Turtle," pp. 766-70, and "The Night The Ghost Got In," pp. 896-902.  You will take a quiz on both once we complete our discussions.  Later in the week we will look at some information on the beginnings of the Postmodern Movement, then will work with the short story "The Brown Chest," pp. 1000-08.

12th Academic English
This week we will continue our look at British literature from the Modern and Postmodern periods.  You will read and outline "The Demon Lover," pp. 1030-38 and "The Fiddle," pp. 1076-84.  We will discuss both short stories and how they reflect life in Britain during this period.  Later in the week we'll read together and discuss "The Lady In The Looking Glass; A Reflection," pp. 1156-63, and discuss stream of consciousness writing.  Don't forget that your character analysis project is due next week, Wednesday, May 6th.

Week of April 20, 2015
11th Academic English
This week we will continue our look at American literature from the Modern Period.  On Monday you will take a quiz on Fitzgerald's "Winter Dreams" then we will begin work with Hemingway's "In Another Country." On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #14, will turn in reading response #13, and will work with vocabulary list #15.  On Friday we will discuss Steinbeck's "The Turtle."  Be sure to keep up with your work as the end of the school year will approach very quickly!!

12th Academic English
On Monday you will take a test on The Victorian Age.  Make sure you are ready to do well with this test.  We will begin and analysis of British literature from the Modern and Postmodern periods after you finish the test.  You will read and outline pp. 950-960 in the literature anthology, then take some notes from the biographical information on Elizabeth Bowen found on p. 1030.  You'll also take some notes on the literary terms and devices found on p. 1031.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #14 and will work on vocabulary list #15.  Be sure to continue work with your Character Analysis project, due on Wednesday, May 6th.  The final exam for this course will quickly approach, so make sure you are keeping up with all of the work assigned to you!!

Week of April 13, 2015
11th Academic English
This week we will continue our study of American literature from the Modern Period.  You will complete work on the Jazz Age Project, then will begin to look at literature from different American authors who wrote during the Modern Period.  We will discuss the impact of American and world events on the literature of this time.  Be prepared for a short quiz after work is completed on each literature selection.

12th Academic English
This week we will continue our look at literature from Britain's Victorian Age.  We will look at various selections of literature from this period, discuss the impact societal events had on the literature, and look at examples of literary terms and devices found in the literature.  At the end of the unit we will take a test.  Make sure you continue work on the Character Analysis Project, due in May.

Week of April 6, 2015
11th Academic English
This week we will continue work on The Jazz Age project.  You will continue to develop detailed plot summary graphic organizers for the Fitzgerald short stories you choose for your work.  Remember as you read to keep in mind the essay options you were given.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #13 and will begin work on vocabulary list #14.  Don't forget that reading response #12 is also due on Thursday.  Make sure you come out to the NS Theatre Arts production of Crazy For You this weekend.  It's a great show!!

12th Academic English
This week we will wrap up our work with Romantic Age literature and move into a study of Victorian literature.  On Tuesday you will take a test on the Romantic Age.  On Wednesday we will discuss the Character Analysis project that you will work on over the next few weeks.  The project due date is Wednesday, May 6th.  Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #13 and will work on vocabulary list #14.  Make sure you come out to the NS Theatre Arts production of Crazy For You this weekend.  Enjoy a great show!!!
