Week of May 23, 2011
11th Academic English
We're in the home stretch now, guys and girls!  This week we will finish viewing the film, Of Mice and Men.  We'll discuss the similarities and differences we noted between the film and the novel read in class.  We'll also prepare for the Final Exam by reviewing Sentence Classification, among other things.  Make sure you are prepared to do your best on the exam by checking the review sheet and literary terms sheet given to you in class earlier this month.  Periods 3 and 4 will take the Final Exam on Thursday.  Period 6 will take the Final Exam on Friday.  Be ready to hand in both your literature and your grammar books on the day of the Final Exam.  Just think, soon you'll be SENIORS!!!!

12th Academic English
It's here, guys and girls!!! Your final high school FINAL EXAM WEEK!  Pretty soon we're turning you loose on the world, saying that you are ready to be productive citizens!  Don't blow it!! Make sure you are prepared for the Final Exam by going over the review sheet and the literary terms sheet given to you in class earlier this month.  Periods 1 and 2 will take the Final Exam on Tuesday.  Period 7 will take the Final Exam on Wednesday.  Be ready to hand in your literature books on the day of your exam.

Week of May 16, 2001
11th Academic English
We're coming down to the wire!  This week we'll finish our work with Steinbeck's classic, Of Mice and Men.  In class, we will discuss character motivation, importance of setting, and major plot developments.  We'll use the Freytag's Pyramid analysis you started last Friday to lead our discussions.  On Thursday you will take Vocabulary Quiz #17, the last vocabulary quiz of the year!!  You'll also hand in Newsweek summary #17, again, the last of the year!  Friday you will take a test on Of Mice and Men, and will begin viewing the film adaptation of this novel. 

12th Academic English
The last week of regular classes is here, seniors!!  Your high school career is quickly coming to an end!  You will spend the first part of the week completing your Frankenstein project.  The completed project is due on Wednesday, May 18th.  On Thursday you will take Vocabulary Quiz #17, the last vocabulary quiz of the year!!  You'll also hand in Newsweek summary #17, again, the last of the year!  Friday we will review for the Final Exam.  Make sure you have all the materials you need for this exam with you on Friday.  Refer to the Final Exam review sheet given to you in class earlier in the month.

Week of May 9, 2011
11th Academic English
The school year is quickly coming to a close!!  Make sure you  stick with our schedule and complete assignments accurately and on time!!!  This week we will continue to prepare for our Final Exam.  You will use worksheets to practice Sentence Classification using Independent and Subordinate Clauses.  You will also continue work on John Steinbeck's Of Mice and MenNear the end of the week you will take a quiz on the first study guide for this novel and will receive the second study guide for this novel to complete.  Be sure to take good notes and ask questions!

12th Academic English
We are rapidly approaching your Final Exam week.  Make sure that you are completing work as scheduled and are actively preparing for your Final Exams.   Graduation is just around the corner!  This week we will conclude our study of the Modern and Postmodern Period in British Literature.  You will read and outline "The Rocking Horse Winner" by D.H. Lawrence and "A Shocking Accident" by Graham Greene.  On Thursday you will take a test on the Modern and Postmodern Periods.  Make sure you study for this test.  Friday is a Frankenstein project work day.  You should be nearly finished reading this novel, if you haven't finished reading it already.  Make sure you follow the guidelines on the project rubric given to you in April.  Completed projects are due on Wednesday, May 18th.
