Week of October 31, 2016
11th English
This week we will finish our look at Act I of The Crucible.  We will take time to complete the Exposition of our plot chart graphic organizer, then will review for a quiz on Act I.  Make sure your study guide is updated and complete!

12th Academic English
On Monday we will review vocabulary list #5 and its worksheet in preparation for a quiz on Thursday.  This week we will begin a unit on Renaissance England and The Canterbury Tales.  Make sure you take good notes in class and during discussions.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #5, will turn in reading response #5, and will work on vocabulary unit #6.  The vocabulary quiz and the reading response are the first grades for the 2nd marking period.

11th Academic English
On Monday we will review vocabulary list #5 and its worksheet in preparation for a quiz on Thursday.  This week we will begin work on Arthur Miller's The Crucible.  We will watch and take notes on a documentary about the Salem Witch Trials, then will begin working with Act I of this play.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #5, will turn in reading response #5, and will work on vocabulary unit #6.  These are the first grades for the 2nd quarter.

SAT Prep
Monday and Tuesday we will finish up our work that has prepared you for taking the reading/writing end of this test.  On Wednesday you will begin work with the mathematics end of this test.

Week of October 24, 2016
11th English
On Monday we will review vocabulary list #4 and its worksheet in preparation for a quiz on Wednesday.  We will also read together and discuss Act I of The Crucible.  Make sure you complete the Act I study guide to prepare for a quiz later in the week.  Your newspaper summary is due on Wednesday.

11th Academic English
This week we will continue our study of sentence classification.  We will review worksheet answers in class in preparation for a test on Thursday.  Later in the week you will have some class time to work on reading response #5.

12th Academic English
This week we will finish our discussion on selections from Arthurian literature.  You will take a test on both this literature and Beowulf on Thursday of this week.  We will also work on a performance based assessment from the literature anthology.  This assessment is tentatively due on Friday 10/28.

SAT Prep
This week we will work on chapters 22 through 25 in the workbooks.  This is a recap of the revising and editing information that we've practiced throughout the quarter.

Week of October 17, 2016
11th English
This week we will work with Act I of Arthur Miller's The Crucible.  Make sure you read carefully and take notes in the margins of your workbook.  This Act sets the scene for the entire play, so critical, careful reading is necessary.

11th Academic English
This week we will continue our work with Sentence Classification.  We will check answers to the first worksheet and will continue sentence classification practice with another worksheet.  On Monday we will review vocabulary list #4 and its worksheet.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #4, will work on list #5 and will turn in reading response #4.

12th Academic English
This week we will continue our study of Arthurian legend.  We will read together and discuss "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight" and will begin work on a selection from "Morte d'Arthur."  Monday we will review vocabulary list #4 and its worksheet.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #4, will turn in reading response #4 and will work on list #5.

SAT Prep
This week we will work on some revising and editing selections to practice for the written portion of the SAT.  We will also work on chapters 20 and 21 in the workbook.

Week of October 10, 2016
11th English
This week we will begin work on Arthur Miller's  The Crucible.  You will watch a documentary on the Salem With Trials, then will begin work with the play.  Make sure you have with you volume two of your literature workbooks and a place where you are keeping class notes.

11th Academic English
This week we will begin work with Sentence Classification.  Take good notes during the power point presentation on this material.  We will use worksheets to first identify independent and subordinate clauses then to classify sentences as either simple, compound, complex or compound-complex.

12th Academic English
This week we will begin a look at Arthurian legend.  You will view and take notes on two documentaries, "In Search of Camelot" and "King Arthur".  After we view and discuss these, you will begin work with "Sir Gawain and The Green Knight".  Remember to think about our essential question, "What makes a hero?", as you work.

SAT Prep
This week we will work on chapters 18 and 19 in the workbooks, then will continue our editing and revising practice using selections from the Editing and Revising workbook.

Week of October 3, 2016
11th English
This week we will wrap up our sentence analysis work.  We will finish reviewing the worksheets, then will take a test on this information on Thursday.  You will work on a newspaper review and have that ready to hand in by the end of the week.

11th Academic English
On Wednesday you will take a test on sentence analysis.  We will review vocabulary list #3 and its worksheet to prepare for a quiz on this list on Thursday.  Remember that you will turn in reading response #3 on Thursday also.  On Friday we will begin work with clauses.

12th Academic English
On Monday we will review vocabulary list #3 and its worksheet to prepare for a quiz on this list on Thursday.  You will also turn in reading response #3 on Thursday.  You will have class time to work on the Beowulf If-Then worksheet to help you prepare for a test on Beowulf and the Anglo-Saxons on Wednesday.  Later in the week we will begin work with Arthurian legend.

SAT Prep
This week we will work on chapters 16 and 17 in the workbook.
