Week of November 1, 2010
11th Academic English
This week we will continue our work with Arthur Miller's The Crucible. We will read together and discuss Act III of this play, will take a quiz on Act III and will begin work on the Act IV study guide. On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #5 and will complete Vocabulary List #6 and its review sheet. Newsweek summary #5 is also due on Thursday. Don't forget that your Personal Narrative Project is due on Friday, November 5th!

12th Academic English
This week we will finish viewing the film Becket. You will be given some class time to work on the essay test based on this film. The essay test is due on Friday, November 5th. On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #5 and will complete Vocabulary List #6 and its review sheet. Newsweek summary #5 is also due on Thursday.

Week of October 25, 2010
11th Academic English
This week we continue our study of Arthur Miller's play, The Crucible. On Monday and Tuesday, we will discuss Act II and, on Tuesday, you will take a quiz on Act II. On Wednesday, you will take a test on both Acts I and II, and will begin work with Act III, completing the Act III study guide as you progress. You will continue working with Act III for the remainder of the week. Don't forget that the Bibliography and Note Cards for the Personal Narrative Research Project are due on Monday and the Map/Outline for the same project is due on Thursday. Be sure to keep up with all work as the quarter is quickly coming to a close!

12th Academic English
In preparation for both completing an essay test on the concept of "hero" and studying selections from The Canterbury Tales, we will watch the film Becket in class this week. You will receive a copy of the essay prompt on Monday and will be given some class time at the end of the film to work on your response. You will be required to take notes during the viewing of this film. Be sure to keep up with all work as the quarter is quickly coming to a close!

Week of October 18th,, 2010
11th Academic English
This week we will finish up our work with Acts I and II of The Crucible. You will have a quiz on Act I on Tuesday. On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #4 and will turn in Newsweek summary #4 at that time also. On Friday you will work in the Library doing research for your Personal Narrative Project, due on November 5th. The quiz on Act II of The Crucible will be on Monday, 10/25 and a Test on Acts I and II will happen on Tuesday, 10/26.

This week we will finish our study of Arthurian Legend. On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #4 and will turn in Newsweek summary #4 at that time also. On Friday, you will take a test on both Beowulf and Arthurian Legend. The following week we will view the film Becket in preparation for studying The Canterbury Tales.

Week of October 11th
11th Academic English
This week we will continue our studies of The Crucible. We will discuss Act I in class, will take a quiz on Act I and will begin work with Act II. You will receive a study guide for Act II to complete as you read. On Friday, we will go to the library to continue your research work on your personal narrative research project, due at the end of the month. Make sure you stay on top of deadlines and don't let this work wait until the last minute!

12th Academic English
This week we will continue our study of Arthurian Legend. We will read aloud and discuss "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight," p. 162+, and will begin work on "Morte d'Arthur," p. 176+. Make sure you take good notes so you are prepared for a test on both Beowulf and Arthurian Legend!

Week of October 4, 2010
11th Academic English
This week we will begin our study of the play The Crucible by Arthur Miller. On Monday we'll view a documentary about the Salem Witch Trials. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday we will begin working with Act I of this play. You will complete a study guide for each of the acts in this play and will receive the Act I study guides on Tuesday. On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #3 and will work on list #4. Newsweek summary #3 is also due at that time. Don't forget that your project proposal is due on Monday, October 4th! We will begin our studies by reading and outlining "Prepare to Read," p. 110 and will read together and outline "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight," p.162 On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #3 and will work on list #4.
