Week of September 29, 2014
2014 Homecoming Spirit Week  September 29 through October 3!!!
11th Academic English
We will continue our study of Sentence Classification using worksheets distributed to you in class.  We will review your answers to each sentence on the worksheets by posting answers on the board.  Near the end of the week we will prepare for a test on Sentence Classification.  Have fun with Homecoming Spirit Week 2014!!

12th Academic English
On Monday you will turn in your completed Beowulf Modern Writing Assignment.  We will continue to prepare for a study of Arthurian Literature by viewing and taking notes on two documentaries, "In Search of Camelot" and "King Arthur."  When we finish the documentaries, we will begin reading "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight," pp. 162-175 in the literature anthology.  Later in the week we'll begin work with a selection from "Morte d'Arthur," pp176-184 in the literature anthology.  Enjoy your final Homecoming Spirit Week as a North Schuylkill Student!!

Week Of September 22, 2014
11th Academic English
On Monday you will take a test on sentence analysis, then will work on your Reading Response due on Thursday.  Tuesday we'll begin work with clauses and with sentence classification.  On Thursday you'll take Vocabulary Quiz #2, will turn in Reading Response #2 and will begin work on Vocabulary List #3.  On Friday we will continue work with clauses.

12th Academic English
On Monday we will review Vocabulary List #1 in preparation for your quiz on Thursday.  You will also have time to work on the reading response that is due on Thursday.  Tuesday and Wednesday you will be given class time to work on the Beowulf Modern Writing Project, which will be due on Monday, September 29th.  On Thursday you'll take Vocabulary Quiz #2, will turn in Reading Response #2, and will begin work on Vocabulary List #3.  On Friday we'll view two documentaries on Arthurian Legend in preparation for our literary studies next week.

Week of September 15, 2014
11th Academic English
This week we'll continue our review of the Parts of the Sentence.  Using worksheets, we'll practice sentence analysis skills.  On Friday you'll take a test demonstrating your mastery of sentence analysis.

12th Academic English
This week we'll continue our look at the epic poem, Beowulf.  We'll discuss what we read, focusing on what we can learn about the Anglo-Saxons through their literature.  We'll also discuss the concepts of Fate and Free Will, and will focus on the characteristics that make Beowulf a hero.  On Friday you'll take a test on Beowulf and will begin a project based on this epic poem.

Week of September 8, 2014

11th Academic English
This week we'll continue our grammar review.  Monday and Tuesday we'll check the two worksheets you completed, identifying Parts of Speech.  Wednesday and Friday we'll work with the Parts of the Sentence and practice sentence analysis techniques.  On Thursday you'll take Vocabulary Quiz #1, turn in Reading Response #1, and begin work with Vocabulary List #2.

12th Academic English
This week we'll continue or study of early British literature.  On Monday you'll work on the Exile writing prompt.  Tuesday you'll take a test on the introductory notes on early British literature and on the Anglo-Saxon poetry we studied in class.  After the test, and on Wednesday and Friday, we'll work with the epic poem Beowulf.  On Thursday you'll take Vocabulary Quiz #1, turn in Reading Response #1, and begin work with Vocabulary List #2.
