Week of January 31, 2011
11th Academic English
This week we will begin our study of Shakespeare's tragedy, Hamlet. On Monday, you will view two documentaries, "Why Shakespeare?" and "In Search of Shakespeare." We will then begin reading Act I of Hamlet. While reading, you will complete the Act I study guide. On Friday of this week, we will continue our PSSA preparation by completing selections 8 through 13 in the Editing and Revising workbook.

12th Academic English
This week you will continue work on the research writing project. You will use both Citation Machine and the MLA Handbook for writers of Research Papers to develop your bibliography and note cards. Don't forget that you must turn in your Thesis Statement card on Monday at the start of class.

Week of January 24, 2011
11th Academic English
This week we will continue our preparation for the PSSA tests in March. We will begin reviewing strategies for reading comprehension using the PSSA Reading Coach workbooks. On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #9 and will also turn in Newsweek summary #9.

12th Academic English
This week you will continue work on your research projects. On Wednesday, you will turn in your specific topics. On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #9 and will also turn in Newsweek summary #9. Remember, your thesis statement is due on Monday, January 31st.

Week of January 10, 2011
11th Academic English
MIDTERM EXAMS THIS WEEK!! The following information will be on the midterm exam: The Crucible, O Pioneers!, Sentence Analysis, Sentence Classification. Make sure you refer to the midterm exam information handout you received in class to prepare for your midterm. This exam is worth 10% of your final course grade, so make sure you are well-prepared for this evaluation. Thursday and Friday we will work on Vocabulary List #9.

12th Academic English

11th Academic English
This week we will wrap up work for the 2nd quarter. On Tuesday, you will take a test on sentence classification. On Thursday you will take Vocabulary Quiz #8 and turn in Newsweek summary #8. During the rest of class time we will review for the midterm exams. Make sure you study not only for the tests but also for the midterm exam, as that exam is 10% of your final grade in this course!!!

12th Academic English
