Week of November 2, 2009
11th Academic English
On Monday you will take a TEST on The Crucible. Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday we will watch the film version of this play, and you will note the similarities and the differences between this film version of the play and the version of the play we studied in class. On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #5, will work on vocabulary list #6 and will complete the review sheet for vocabulary list #6.

12th Academic English
The essay test on Becket is due on Wednesday, November 4th!! NO LATE PAPERS WILL BE ACCEPTED!! On Monday and Tuesday, we will begin an analysis of the sociological and historical climate of Medieval England by reading and outlining "Prepare to Read/A Closer Look" on pp. 90-93 of your literature anthology, and by taking notes during a class discussion of pilgrimages and the Canterbury Cathedral. On Wednesday and Friday, you will begin to analyze Medieval English life by reading and outlining "The Prologue" (pp. 94-115) of Geoffrey Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales. On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #5, will work on vocabulary list #6 and will complete the review sheet for vocabulary list #6.

Week of October 26th
11th Academic English
On Monday we will finish our discussion of Acts I and II of The Crucible. Tuesday we will take a test on Acts I and II, and will continue working on the Act III Study Guide. We will continue our work with Act III and will begin Act IV later this week.

12th Academic English
We will continue our work with the film Becket this week. When we finish viewing the film, you will have one class period to work on your essay for this film. The essay due date will be announced at a later time. Time permitting, we will begin our studies of The Canterbury Tales at the end of the week, but due to PSSA retesting, the time needed to complete the film is not yet determined. Once we finish the film, we will establish the work frames for the rest of the quarter.

Week of October 19,2009
11th Academic English
This week we will continue our work with the play The Crucible. You will finish the Act II Study Guide and will take a quiz on Act II. You will have a test on Acts I and II of The Crucible on Thursday, October 22nd. On Friday October 23rd, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #4 and will work on Vocabulary List #5 and its review sheet.

12th Academic English
On Monday we will wrap up our study of Arthurian literature and will prepare for a test. On Tuesday, October 20th, you will take a test on both Beowulf and Arthurian legend/literature. Wednesday and Thursday we will begin to watch the film Becket. You will be required to take notes on this film and, when we finish the film sometime next week, you will answer an essay test related to this film and our studies of heroes. On Friday, October 23rd, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #4 and will work on Vocabulary List #5 and its review sheet.

Week of October 12, 2009
Sorry about the late start to this year's homework blogs! Hopefully, you have checked the first quarter schedule from class given to you at the start of the quarter detailing all of our work! Check back regularly...

11th Academic English
Monday and Tuesday are in-service days. This week we will continue our study of The Crucible. Make sure you complete the Act I Study Guide and are prepared for a quiz at the end of the week. You will receive the Act II Study Guide on Friday, 10/16.

12th Academic English
Monday and Tuesday are in-service days. This week we will continue our analysis of Arthurian Legend literature. We will finish reading "Sir Gawain and the Green Knight," pp. 162-175, and will work with "Morte d'Arthur," pp. 176-184. Be sure to take accurate notes on each of the selections and to identify heroic traits in Arthur that are similar to those found in Beowulf.
