Week of May 17, 2010
11th Academic English
This week we will wrap up our studies of American Literature from the Modern/Postmodern periods. You will read and outline the biographical information on Hemingway, Thurber and Updike found in your literature anthology. We will read together and discuss "In Another Country," "The Night the Ghost Got In," and "The Brown Chest." On Thursday, you will take the last vocabulary quiz of the course, Quiz #17, and you will turn in a Newsweek summary. Next Monday, you will take a test on the Modern/ Postmodern period, then we will begin watching the film version of Of Mice and Men. Make sure you stay on top of all assignments, quizzes, tests, etc. as the end of the school year is fast approaching!

12th Academic English.
This week we will finish our studies of the Modern/Postmodern Periods of British Literature. On Wednesday you will take a test on this information. Make sure you study for this test as it is the last test of the 4th quarter. Thursday and Friday we will prepare for our Final Exam in this course. This is a very important test, 10% of your final course grade, so make sure you are well-prepared for this. Graduation is right around the corner!

Week of May 10, 2010
11th Academic English
This week we will continue our studies of Modern/Postmodern American Literature by reading and outlining biographical information on F. Scott Fitzgerald (p. 742) and John Steinbeck (p.766) from your literature textbooks. We will read the short stories "Winter Dreams," (p.744) and "The Turtle," (p.767) and will discuss elements of modernism in each. You will also take Vocabulary Quiz #16 on Thursday of this week. Newsweek summaries are also due at that time. Please stay up to date with your classwork and refer to the May calendar schedule. Final exams are quickly approaching.

12th Academic English
We will continue our studies of Modern/Postmodern British Literature. We will read together and discuss both "The Rocking Horse Winner," (p. 1176) and "A Shocking Accident," (p.1190) in your literature textbooks. On Thursday of this week you will take the last Voabulary Quiz for this course, quiz #17!!! Newsweek summaries are also due at that time. Please make sure you keep up with classwork as your Final Exams are quickly approaching.
