Week of November 29, 2010
11th Academic English
This week we will continue our review of the Parts of the Sentence. Mr. Lucas will demonstrate a new method of sentence analysis and you will use this method to analyze a variety of sentences both from the grammar textbook and from worksheets that Mr. Lucas created. On Friday of this week we will discuss Part One of O Pioneers! If time allows, we will take a quiz on the Part One Study Guide.

12th Academic English
This week we will continue our study of MacBeth. On Wednesday, you will take a quiz on the Act I study guide and will begin reading Act II. You will be given a study guide for Act II to complete as you read. Take note of MacBeth's actions--was he FATED to do what he does or was it his FREE WILL choice to do what he does?
Week of November 22, 2010
11th Academic English
This week we will continue our review of the Parts of Speech and the Parts of the Sentence. We will use sentences from the grammar textbook and worksheets created by your teacher to practice identifying the Parts of Speech and the Parts of the Sentence. Have a great Thanksgiving Holiday!!!!!

12th Academic English
This week we will begin to study the Shakespearean tragedy, MacBeth. We will begin reading Act I and you will complete a study guide for Act I. Have a great Thanksgiving Holiday!!!!

Week of November 15, 2010
11th Academic English
This week we will begin our study of Willa Cather's novel, O Pioneers! On Tuesday and Wednesday, you will begin reading Part One of this novel and will answer the study guide questions for Part One. On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #6 and complete list #7 and its review sheet. Newsweek Summary #6 is due at that time. On Friday, we will begin a grammar review of the Parts of Speech and the Parts of the Sentence.

12th Academic English
This week we will continue our study of Medieval English life as seen through The Canterbury Tales. On Tuesday and Wednesday we will continue reading and discussing "The Nun's Priest's Tale" and "The Pardoner's Tale." On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #6 and complete list #7 and its review sheet. Newsweek Summary #6 is due at that time. On Friday, you will take a test on The Canterbury Tales.

Week of November 8, 2010
11th Academic English
This week we will conclude our study of Arthur Miller's The Crucible. On Monday, you will take the Act IV quiz. On Tuesday, you will take a test on the entire play. Your Personal Narrative Research Project is also due on Tuesday. On Wednesday we will begin watching the film adaptation of The Crucible. You should note similarities and differences between the version of the play we read in class and the film adaptation of this drama.

12th Academic English
This week we will begin our study of Medieval English life as seen through Geoffrey Chaucer's work, The Canterbury Tales. On Monday you will take notes during a lecture on Medieval English life and the concept of pilgrimage. Tuesday through Thursday, you will read and outline "The Prologue" from The Canterbury Tales. On Friday we will begin looking at the first of two specific tales, "The Nun's Priest Tale." Make sure you take detailed notes on all of this work.
