Week of September 30, 2019
2019 Homecoming Spirit Week!!!
11th Academic English
This week we will begin a unit that will help you identify sentences according to structure.  On Monday, we will review this information with a power point presentation.  Make sure you take good notes.  For the rest of the week we will practice sentence classification using worksheets I will provide to you.  Make sure you ask questions if you need help!

12th Academic English/12th English
This week we will begin a study of Arthurian Legend.  You will take notes while we view two documentaries about King Arthur and his kingdom, Camelot.  Later in the week we will read together and discuss "Sir Gawain and The Green Knight."  Make sure you take good notes during the documentaries.

Week of September 23, 2019
12th English
This week we will wrap up our look at Beowulf.  On Monday we will review for the test on this epic poem.  The test is scheduled for Wednesday.  You will also complete vocabulary worksheet #2 and news article worksheet #2.  We will review vocabulary on Tuesday.  Vocabulary quiz #2 is on Friday and news article #2 is also due on Friday.

12th Academic English
On Monday you and your group will present your work from the Beowulf chunking activity.  We will review for your test on this epic poem scheduled for Wednesday.  We will review vocabulary list #2 and its worksheet on Tuesday and you will have time this week to complete work on reading response #2.  The response is due on Friday at the start of the period.  Vocabulary quiz #2 will happen on Friday.  Later this week we will begin work on Arthurian legend literature.

11th Academic English
On Monday you will have some time to complete both vocabulary list #2 and its worksheet.  If you are finished that work you can continue work on reading response #2.  We will review vocabulary list #2 on Tuesday in preparation for a quiz on Friday.  Your reading response is also due on Friday.  On Wednesday we will begin work on Sentence Classification.  You will take notes during a power point presentation on this information then will practice this skill using worksheets provided to you.

Week of September 16, 2019
12th English
This week we will continue or look at Beowulf.  We will read together and discuss this great epic poem.  Later in the week we will prepare for a test on this information, then begin work on a project based on this poetry.

12th Academic English
You will turn in your Exile writing at the start of class on Monday.  We will continue our work on Beowulf and will prepare for a test (later this week or early next week) on all of the information about this poem and the Anglo/Saxons.  After the test you will begin work on a project based on Beowulf.

11th Academic English
This week we will practice Sentence Analysis.  You will use worksheets given to you to practice this skill and we will check answers on the board.  At the end of the week you will take a test on Sentence Analysis.  Make sure  you memorize the analysis chart given to you in class!

Week of September 10, 2019
12th English
On Monday we will discuss the three poems you read in class.  You should have completed the mapping of these poems and should be ready for discussion.  On Tuesday we will review vocabulary list #1 in preparation for vocabulary quiz #1 on Thursday.  During this week we will also begin our discussion on the epic poem Beowulf.  Don't forget that your news article writing is due on Thursday!

12th Academic English
On Monday you will present your group work focused on the three Anglo-Saxon poems we read in class.  Make sure you are ready for a discussion on this information.  On Tuesday we will review vocabulary list #1 in preparation for vocabulary quiz #1 on Thursday.  Your first reading response is also due on Thursday.  Throughout the rest of the week we will work on the epic poem Beowulf.  Don't forget to work on your Exile Paper, due on Monday, September 16th.

11th Academic English
On Monday you will take a quiz on the Parts of Speech.  Please make sure you prepare well for this quiz.  When you finish the quiz we will begin work on the Parts of the Sentence.  On Tuesday we will review vocabulary list #1 in preparation for vocabulary quiz #1 on Thursday.  Your first reading response is also due on Thursday.  Throughout the remainder of the week we will practice Sentence Analysis using worksheets provided to you in class.  Please remember to give this work your best effort.

Welcome Back!!!
12th English
This week we will begin our look at Anglo-Saxon literature.  Make sure you take good notes during class.  We will look at some Anglo-Saxon exile poetry and determine what the narrators were feeling while telling us their stories.  Later in the week you will begin work on a writing centered on exile.

12th Academic English
This week you will take notes during a power point discussion of early English history.  We will use this knowledge to discuss Anglo-Saxon exile poetry and to compare Anglo-Saxon society to our society.  Later in the week you will begin work on a writing prompt centered on your experience with exile.

11th Academic English
This week we will continue our review of the Parts of Speech.  You will identify the part of speech for words found in sentences on worksheets given to you in class.  Later in the week we will prepare for a quiz on the Parts of Speech.
