Week of February 28, 2011
11th Academic English
This week we will continue our study of Shakespeare's Hamlet and our preparations for the PSSA Readin tests. On Monday and Tuesday we will finish reading and discussing Act III of Hamlet. You will complete your Act III study guide. On Wednesday, you will take a test on Acts I, II and III of this play and will begin work on Act IV. Thursday and Friday of this week, we will continue using the PSSA Reading Coach workbooks to review and prepare for the PSSA Reading Test being given just two weeks from now. Make sure you are keeping up with all of your assignments and preparations!!!

12th Academic English
This week we will move into the final componenets of the Research Writing Project. On Tuesday, you will hand in your Outline. Remember that this document and all remaining documents must be word-processed. On Thursday, you will hand in your Works Cited page. Remember to save the Works Cited to your H-drive. You will turn in a revised Works Cited page with your final draft of this project. All this week, you should also be working on writing the text of your research project. The text will be due on Tuesday, March 8th. Be sure to speak with me if you have any questions or run into any problems.

Week of February 21, 2011

Monday, February 21 - Presidents' Day - school closed

11th Academic English
This week we will continue our analysis of Shakespeare's tragedy, Hamlet. We will work on Act III, completing the study guide for this act. For future reference, you will have a test on Acts I, II and III on Tuesday, March 1st. On Thursday of this week you will take Vocabulary Quiz #11 and will turn in Newsweek summary #11. Make sure to keep up with all work, even if you are absent.

12th Academic English
On Tuesday you will turn in Bibliography/Note Card set #3. We will discuss the procedures for completing an outline, works cited page and text for the position paper you are writing. You are required to complete all of these assignments according to MLA format, so we will be referring to the MLA Handbook for this information. On Thursday of this week you will take Vocabulary Quiz #11 and will turn in Newsweek summary #11 also. Make sure to keep up with all scheduled work, even if you are absent from school. We're coming down to the final stretch of your high school career, so keep up with all assignments, due dates, etc. etc.

Week of February 14, 2011
11th Academic English
This week our study of Shakespeare's Hamlet continues. We will read aloud and discuss Act II of the play, and you will finish your Act II Study Guide questions. On Thursday, we will take a quiz on Act II and you will be given the Act III Study Guide. After the quiz on Thursday and all period on Friday, we will continue preparing for the PSSA Reading test. We will work on Part 2 of the PSSA Reading Coach workbook. The PSSA Tests are only a month away, so we need to make sure we are ready for those!!!

12th Academic English
This week we will continue work on the research writing project. On Monday, you will turn in Bibligraphy/Note Cards set #2 and begin work on set #3. Remember to continue gathering solid research to support your thesis/position. Bibliography/Note Card set #3 is due on Tuesday, February 22.

Week of February 7, 2011
11th Academic English
We will continue our work with Hamlet this week. On Tuesday, you'll take a quiz on Act I and begin the Act II study guide. On Wednesday, we'll have a presentation on your graduation projects. The vocabulary quiz originally scheduled for Thursday is now moved to Friday so, on Friday you will take Vocabulary Quiz #10 and will turn in Newsweek summary #10 also.

12th Academic English
We will continue our work with your research projects. On Monday, you will turn in the first set of Bibliography and Note Cards. On Friday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #10 and turn in Newsweek summary #10 also. Make sure you keep up with deadlines for the research work and ask questions of me when you need help.
