Week of April 28, 2014
11th Academic English
This week you will continue work on the Jazz Age Stories project.   Make sure you are completing a very detailed plot summary graphic organizer for each of the stories you are reading.  By the end of the week you should be working on your written response to the essay question you've chosen to answer.  Be sure to speak with me if you have any questions or run into any problems.

12th Academic English
This week we'll begin our look at literature from the Modern/Postmodern Period.  On Monday you'll take notes during a power point discussion of the Modern/Postmodern Period.  Tuesday we'll read and discuss "The Demon Lover," pp. 1030-1038.  Thursday we'll look at "The Fiddle," pp. 1076-1084.  Don't forget that your Character Analysis Project will be due next week, on Wednesday, May 7th.  We're coming down to the wire, so make sure you are keeping up with all the work that is due before you graduate!!

Week of April 21, 2014
11th Academic English
This week we'll finish work on the Modern/Postmodern Period.  On Tuesday, you'll take a test on this information, then will begin work on your Jazz Age Stories project.  On Thursday you'll take Vocabulary Quiz #15 and will begin work on Vocabulary List #16 and its review sheet.  On Friday you'll have a reading response due.

12th Academic English
This week we'll read together and discuss a selection from the novel Jane Eyre.  On Wednesday you'll take a test on the Victorian Period, then will continue in-class work on the Character Analysis project.  On Thursday you'll take Vocabulary Quiz #15 and will begin work on Vocabulary List #16 and its review sheet.  On Friday we'll begin work on the Modern/Postmodern Period of British literature.
Week of April 14, 2014
11th Academic English
This week we'll continue our study of the American Modern/Postmodern Period in literature.  We'll read together and discuss Thurber's "The Night The Ghost Got In," then work on taking notes from the section "Prosperity and Protest" pp.956-965 in your literature text.  We'll then read "The Brown Chest" by John Updike and will prepare for a test on the Modern/Postmodern period early next week

12th Academic English
This week we'll begin a survey of the Victorian Period in British literature.  We'll outline introductory information, then read the poetry of Robert Browning and Elizabeth Barrett Browning, pp. 834-844 in the literature anthology.  On Thursday you'll begin work on your Character Analysis project, due the first week in May.

Week of April 7, 2014
11th Academic English
This week we'll continue our look at American literature from the Modern Period.  We'll discuss "Winter Dreams" and "In Another Country," then read together and discuss "The Turtle," pp. 768-770.  On Thursday you will take Vocabulary Quiz #14 and will start work on Vocabulary List #15.  On Friday you will turn in your next reading response.

12th Academic English
This week we'll finish our study of British literature from the Romantic Period.  We'll read together and discuss "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner, " p. 686+, then prepare for a test on the Romantic Period.  On Thursday, you will take Vocabulary Quiz #14 and will start work on Vocabulary List #15.
