11th Academic English
This is it, guys and girls--time to take your final exam!!  Make sure you prepare well for the final.  Review the key areas as outlined on the review sheet given to you in class last week, and study, study study!!!  Soon you'll be seniors!!

12th Academic English

Week of May 19, 2014
11th Academic English
This week we'll finish our study of Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men.  On Tuesday you'll take a quiz on on the last study guide, then Wednesday you'll take a test on the entire novel.  We'll watch a film version of this story, then discuss the similarities and differences between the film and the novel you read.  Later in the week we'll begin reviewing for your final exam.

12th Academic English
This is it, guys and girls---your final week of classes in high school!!!  Monday and Tuesday we'll review for the final.  Check your calendars for the final exam schedule for seniors.  Make sure you prepare well for the final!!!  Have your literature anthology ready to hand in on the day you are scheduled to take the final exam.  Great job, folks!  You all should be proud of your hard work and dedication!  Enjoy the next couple of weeks!

Week of May 12, 2014

11th Academic English
This week our studies will focus on the classic American novel, Of Mice and Men, written by John Steinbeck.  You'll receive two study guides to help with your comprehension of the novel.  On Wednesday you'll take a quiz on the first study guide and, early next week, you'll be given a quiz on the second study guide.  Later this week, on Friday, you'll take Vocabulary Quiz #17 -- the last vocabulary quiz in this class for this school year.

12th Academic English
This is it, guys and girls--the last full week of regular classes in your high school career!!!!  We'll wrap up our look at the British Modern/Postmodern Period.  On Wednesday you'll take Vocabulary Quiz #17.  On Thursday you'll take a test on the Modern/Postmodern Period, then begin preparing for your Final Exam.  Make sure you keep up with the work remaining in this course and make sure you prepare to ace the final!!  Make the last weeks of your senior year the best weeks!!!

Week of May 5, 2014
11th Academic English
This week you'll finish up work on the Jazz Age Stories project.  Don't forget that you'll need your completed project at the start of class on Tuesday, May 6th.  No late projects will be accepted.  After you turn in your project we'll go over Vocabulary List #16.  On Wednesday, you'll work on Reading Response #14 which will be due on Friday, May 9th.  On Thursday you'll take Vocabulary Quiz #16 and will work on Vocabulary List #17.  Be sure to keep up with all work as we begin to wrap up your junior year in high school!!

12th Academic English
This week we'll continue our study of England's Modern/Postmodern Period.  On Monday we'll read together and discuss "The Lady In The Looking Glass; A Reflection,"  pp. 1156-1163.  On Tuesday we'll review Vocabulary List #16 then work with "The First Year of My Life," pp. 1164-1170.  Don't forget that your Character Analysis Project is due at the start of class on Wednesday!!!  On Thursday you'll take Vocabulary Quiz #16 and will work on List #17.  On Friday we'll begin work with "The Rocking Horse Winner," pp. 1174-1189.  Make sure you keep up with all work as your final year of high school is quickly coming to an end!!  Final exams are just around the corner!!
