Week of January 26, 2009
11th Academic English
This week we will continue to prepare for the PSSA Writing Tests in February. Make sure you are taking good notes during class and are reviewing the Helpful Hints sections of your notes. We will start working with practice prompts near the middle of the week.

12th Academic English
We will continue working in the library on our research projects. The Specific Topic card is due on Thursday, January 29th, not Wednesday, as previously announced. Be sure to check in often with me on your progress. You should also start to develop your thesis statement and should get your interlibrary loan requests in to either Mr. Brand or Mrs. Miller as soon as possible.

Week of January 12th
11th Academic English
This week we will finish watching the film version of the novel O Pioneers! We will also complete Vocabulary List #9 and its review sheet. The midterm exam for this course will be held on Thursday, January 15th.

12th Academic English
This week we will complete Newsweek Summary #9 and will also complete work on Vocabulary List #9 and its review sheet. The midterm exam for this course will be held on Thursday, January 15th. On Friday, January 16th, we will begin discussion of the Research Writing project for third quarter.

AUDITIONS UPDATE
Due to the weather, auditions for Guys and Dolls will NOT be held on Sunday, January 11th. Auditions WILL be held on Monday, January 12th, immediately after school. Stay inside and stay warm!

Week of January 5th
11th Academic English
This week we will continue to work with independent and subordinate clauses to classify sentences. We will have a test on this information on Thursday, January 8th. Newsweek Summary #9 is also due at that time. We will also finish our work with the novel O Pioneers! by taking a quiz on parts 4 and 5. On Friday, we will begin watching the film version of this novel.

12th Academic English
This week we will wrap up or study of Shakespeare's MacBeth by watching a film version of this play. On Thursday, January 8th, Newsweek Summary #9 is due.
