Week of March 2, 2020
11th Academic English
This week we will finish reading Shakespeare's Hamlet.  You will finish your work on the Act V study guide early this week, then we will read together and discuss the act.  On Monday of next week you will take the Act V quiz and on Tuesday of next week you will take a test on the entire play.  Make sure you keep up with work!

12th Academic English
We are moving into the final phase of the research project.  This week you will finish the works cited page and turn it in at the start of class on Wednesday.  You should be writing your paper now.  Make sure that you first work on the body of the paper.  Do not work on the introduction and conclusion until you finish writing the body.  Remember to parenthetically cite information to avoid plagiarism.

12th English
You have finished gathering information for your research project and this week we will work on using that information to create your final draft.  We will discuss format for the works cited page and you will turn in that assignment on Thursday of this week.  Your final draft is due on Wednesday of next week.

Week of February 24, 2020
11th Academic English
This week we will complete work on Act IV of Hamlet.  Make sure you have your Act IV study guide completed.  On Wednesday, you will take the Act IV quiz.  On Thursday you will turn in reading response 11 and will take vocabulary quiz 11.  You will begin work on vocabulary list #12 on Thursday also.

12th Academic English
This week you work on webbing and outlining your research project.  You will use class time to create a map of the information you gathered from your 21 sources, will decide what information you will include in your writing and will develop an outline for your final paper.  We will review MLA format requirements for this writing and you will begin creating a first draft of your work.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz 11 and will begin work on vocabulary list 12.

12th English
This week you will turn in document packet 3 on Wednesday.  Please make sure that all documents fit the requirements precisely!  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz 11 and will work on vocabulary list 12.

Week of February 10, 2020
11th Academic English
Early this week we will look at Act III of Hamlet.  Make sure you finish the Act III study guide as soon as possible.  On Wednesday you will take the Act III quiz.  (Note the change on the calendar!)  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz 10 and will turn in reading response 10.  Enjoy your long Presidents' Day weekend.  Make sure  you are prepared for a test on the first three acts of Hamlet on Tuesday, February 18th.

12th Academic English
Work continues on the position paper research writing project.  On Wednesday you will turn in the second documents packet.  Make sure you meet the deadline!  On Thursday, you will take vocabulary quiz 10.  Enjoy the long Presidents' Day weekend but make sure you are prepared to turn in the third documents packet on Wednesday, February 19th!

12th English
Work continues on the past, present and future research writing project.  Your first document packet is due on Monday.  Make sure you have vocabulary worksheet 10 completed for Tuesday.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz 10.  Don't forget to complete your work on document packet 2 by Tuesday, February 18th.  Enjoy the long Presidents' Day weekend!

Week of February 3, 2020
11th Academic English
This week we will continue or look at Shakespeare's Hamlet.  We will discuss Act II of this tragedy then will take a quiz on this information.  The quiz is rescheduled for Wednesday, February 5th.  After you take the quiz, you will begin work on the Act III study guide for this play.

12th Academic English
We will continue our work on the research project this week.  On Wednesday, you will turn in Documentation Packet #1.  Make sure you follow correct format when developing these documents.  Also make sure that you are prepared to meet all deadline requirements.  Remember, if you fail to turn in a research project assignment by its listed deadline, you will not receive any credit for that assignment.  Make sure you speak with Mr. Lucas if you have any questions or run into any problems.

12th English
This week we will continue work on the research project.  You should be preparing Document Packet #1.  The due date for this packet is Monday, February 10th.  You also should be continuing your research, finding materials for the remaining two document packets.  Remember, you must turn in assignments for this project by the due dates or you will not receive credit for those assignments.  Make sure you speak with Mr. Lucas if you have any questions or run into any problems.

Week of January 20, 2020
11th Academic English
This week we will begin work with Act I of Shakespeare's Hamlet.  You will be given a study guide for this act to help with your comprehension of characters, settings and plot.  Don't forget to finish work on the essay assignment for The Crucible.  That essay is due at the start of the class period on Thursday.  No late essays will be accepted!

12th Academic English
This week we will begin our work on the research project.  You will turn in a General Topic on Wednesday and a Specific Topic on Friday.  Please remember that all deadlines for this project are absolute.  No work turned in after assigned deadlines will receive a grade.  You must be prepared to meet all deadlines for this project.  Make sure you speak with Mr. Lucas if you have any questions or concerns.

12th English
This week we will begin work on the research project.  You will have library time to research an industry, a career or another approved topic.  On Wednesday you will turn in a General Topic.  On Friday you will turn in a Specific Topic.  Make sure you ask questions and/or talk with Mr. Lucas if you run into any problems.

Week of January 13, 2020
11th Academic English
This week we will wrap up our look at Arthur Miller's The Crucible.  When we finish the film version of this, you will work on an essay comparing and contrasting the film and the play we read in class.  Later this week we will begin work on Shakespeare's The Tragedy of Hamlet, Prince of Denmark.

12th Academic English
This week we will finish our work with The Canterbury Tales.  On Wednesday you will take a test on this material.  Later in the week we will begin a unit on Research Writing.  You will work on developing a college/university-level research paper that proves a thesis.  You will use research skills to find information to prove your position.  We will discuss requirements, point values and deadlines in class.

12th English
This week we will finish our work with The Canterbury Tales.  On Wednesday you will take a test on this material.  Later in the week we will begin a research writing unit.  You will research the past, present and future of an industry.  More details, requirements, point values and deadlines will be discussed in class.

11th Academic English
This week we will continue to view the film version of The Crucible.  Make sure you continue to note similarities and differences between the play we studied in class and the film we are viewing.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #8, will turn in reading response #8 and will begin work on vocabulary list #9.

12th Academic English
This week we will continue our study of selections from The Canterbury Tales.  We will read together and discuss two tales, "The Nuns' Priest Tale" and "The Pardoner's Tale."  Make sure you complete your work on "The Prologue" before the end of the week.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #8 and will begin work on vocabulary list #9.  You are not required to turn in a reading response this week.  Early next week you will take a test on The Canterbury Tales.  We will discuss that test at the end of this week.

12th English
