Week of April 25, 2016
11th Academic English
This week we will wrap up our look at Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men. On Monday you will take a quiz on the first study guide, then will continue work with the second half of the novel. On Tuesday we will discuss chapters 4, 5 and 6. You will take notes while we review information about literary elements found in the novel, then will use that information to create a plot diagram for this work. Later in the week you will take a quiz on the second study guide and will prepare for a test on the novel that will be given early next week.
12th Academic English
On Monday we will review introductory notes on Britain's Modern and Postmodern Periods. This week we will begin to look at some literary selections that exemplify the characteristics found in most art forms during this very creative period. Make sure you are taking excellent notes and are preparing both for a test on the Modern/Postmodern period and for the final exam. Graduation is just around the corner!
Theatre Production II
This week you will continue work on the final project. Don't forget that the first component for this project is due Monday, and the next component is due on Monday, May 2nd. Stay on top of the work!!!!

11th Academic English
This week we will begin our look at Steinbeck's Of Mice and Men. You will continue work on study guide #1 for this novel. We will discuss events in the first half of the book and will look at how this novel reflects society at the time it was written. When we finish our discussion, you will take a quiz on the first study guide. On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #14, will turn in reading response #14 and will work on vocabulary list #15.

This week we will wrap up our look at literature from Britain's Victorian Age and will begin work on literature from Britain's Modern/Postmodern Periods. On Wednesday, you will take a test on the Victorian Age. On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #14 and will work on vocabulary list #15. Make sure you keep up with all assignments, tests and quizzes, as your final exam dates are quickly approaching!!
Theatre Production II
On Monday we will discuss the final project for this course. You will be required to turn in four components for this project, each worth 100 points, over the next four weeks. The first component involves organizing a production team and creating production schedules. This component must be completed in one week and must be turned in on Monday, April 25th. Make sure you don't slack on this work!!

This week we will view a film version of Shakespeare's Hamlet. You will be asked to note the similarities and the differences you observe between the version of this play we read in class and the film adaptation we will view in class. Take notes during the film and be prepared to discuss what you observed.
12th Academic English
This week we will begin a look at some literature from Britain's Victorian period. You should outline the introductory information found on pp. 802-813 in your literature anthology. We will discuss this information in class, then begin reading some literary selections from this period. We will also discuss a Character Analysis project you will be required to complete by the first week in May. You will receive a handout on this project and its requirements. Make sure you speak with Mr. Lucas if you have any questions.

This week we will continue our look at literature from Britain's Romantic Period. We will read together and discuss "The Rime of the Ancient Mariner," pp. 686-709. You will complete an "IF-THEN" worksheet on the Romantic Period. When we finish our study of this period, you will take a unit test. On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #13 and will work on list #14.
