Week of January 21, 2019
11th Academic English
This week we will continue or look at Shakespeare's Hamlet.  We will review Act I and will begin work with Act II.  On Wednesday you will take a quiz on Act I.  Refer to your study guide for this act to prepare for the quiz.

12th Academic English
This week you will narrow your chosen research topic.  On Tuesday you will turn in your General Topic.  On Thursday you will turn in your Specific Topic and on the following Tuesday, you will turn in your Thesis Statement.  Make sure you are using your library time wisely and are asking for help and clarification as needed.

12th Honors English
This week we will continue our study of the English Renaissance and of Shakespeare's MacBeth.  Make sure you take good notes as you will have a test on the English Renaissance information in the near future.

SAT Prep
Early this week you will finish your work with the first five selections from the Editing and Revising workbooks.  When this work is finished, you will begin work using the SAT Premier workbook.  Remember to complete at least two required chapters per week.  Make sure you speak with Mr. Lucas should you have any questions.

Week  of January 14, 2019
11th Academic English
This week we will begin our work with Shakespeare's Hamlet.  You will finish reading Act I and will complete the study guide for this act.  We will read together Act I, will discuss these scenes and will talk about the information we learn through the exposition of this play.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #9, will turn in reading response #9 and will work on vocabulary list #10.

12th Academic English
On Monday you will take the Act V quiz and on Wednesday you will complete the unit test, ending our study of Shakespeare's MacBeth.  This week we will begin work with a research writing unit.  This unit will prepare you to write successfully on the university level.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #9.

12th Honors English
This week we will begin a study of Shakespeare's tragedy, MacBeth.  On Monday you will take notes while we discuss The English Renaissance.  Throughout the week you will begin working with Act I of this play.  On Thursday you will take vocabulary quiz #9.

SAT Prep
All required chapters must be completed this week!  Practice Test #1 is due on Wednesday.  If you do not complete the required work for this course, you will receive an incomplete.  Make sure you finish up everything you should.

Week of January 7, 2019
11th Academic English
This week we will begin our study of Shakespeare's Hamlet.  On Tuesday and Wednesday you will take notes while watching two documentaries, one a biography of Shakespeare and the other a look at Shakespeare's influence in our world today.  We will begin working with the play when we finish viewing the documentaries.  Don't forget to turn in your completed project from The Crucible on Wednesday at the start of class.

12th Academic English
This week we will wrap up our study of Shakespeare's MacBeth.  We will read together portions of Acts IV and V, and will discuss each of the acts.  You will take a quiz on Act IV and Act V. On Monday of next week you will take the final test on this unit.

12th Honors English
This week we will wrap up our research writing unit.  The Works Cited page is due on Tuesday and the final draft of the paper is due on Thursday.  Make sure you speak with Mr. Lucas if you have any problems or questions.

SAT Prep
This week you should be finishing the required chapter work in our SAT Premier workbooks.  By Tuesday, or at the latest, Wednesday you should be starting Practice Test #1.

Week of January 2, 2019
11th Academic English
This week you will work on your project.  You will have some time in class to write and edit your work, but you also must work on your own to complete this project.  On Friday you will take vocabulary quiz #8 and will turn in reading response #8.

12th Academic English
On Friday, you will take vocabulary quiz #8 and will turn in reading response #8.  You should have completed the Act IV study guide.  You will be given the Act V study guide and should begin work on that. 

12th Honors English
Your last set of documents is due on Thursday.  You should begin writing your research paper, making sure that you are proving your thesis by carefully using your data to prove your point.

SAT Prep
We are coming down to the wire in this course.  You should have the majority of the required chapters completed by now and should be wrapping up loose ends.  By Monday you should be ready to begin work on Practice Test #1.
